The new issue of Spin magazine has some bits of news about the new CD. Thanks to Thatyou from the official site's message board, who posted the small article:
"...the band's as yet untitled follow up to 2002's By the Way will NOT be available this fall as once planned. "I wish to fuck that we were putting it out sooner," Kiedis says, "because I'm so excited about it, and I so am ready for it to be part of the public consciousness. But John Frusciante has convinced me that it's important to actually finish mixing every song and the choose the ones we're gonna put on this record. Kiedis, who was still recording vocals at press time, would not volunteer any song titles. "I can tell you it's a lot different than By the Way. There are a couple of songs that sound like late 60's hard rock, like early Sabbath." and funk? Is there...funk? "There are some profoundly funky songs," he confirms, "very modern-sounding funk songs. Then there are songs that really are new for us and don't sound like anything.
